At 6 a.m. on Monday, Fiat Auto Poland resumed production of vehicles.

The factory had stopped production early in the morning last Friday after the area around Pilkington’s factory in Sandomierz was flooded with water.

“The glass manufacturer has resumed dispatching windscreens from its warehouses on an emergency basis and so we’ve been able to start production, “ said Bogusław Cieślar, a spokesperson for Fiat Auto Poland. “Our existing stock is enough for a few days of manufacturing. We hope the situation in the Sandomierz area gets back to normal by then and the factory will resume production and regular deliveries of windscreens,” the factory’s spokesperson added.

Following the disruptions in windscreen deliveries and the resulting production break, a few thousand vehicles did not roll off the assembly lines as planned, but the factory’s management expect to make up for the delay by working overtime.
