On 31 August, the Council of Ministers adopted a resolution amending a resolution on a long-term programme of support for Fiat Powertrain Technologies Poland Sp. z .o.o. in Bielsko-Biała, which has been manufacturing TwinAir 0.9 l engines since June.
The programme, launched in 2009, needs to modified as a result of the global economic crisis, which reduced the market for the engines made by the Bielsko-Biała plant. As a result, the schedule for the investment project to be subsidised within the programme and for payment of the subsidies will be changed, while the amount of the planned capital expenditure and head count will not be affected.
Fiat Powertrain Technologies has agreed, within the programme, to make a capital expenditure of PLN 673.2 m by the end of 2013 and to maintain the investment project for 5 years. The company has also agreed to create 400 jobs by the end of 2013. The government support for new jobs at the plant is planned for PLN 1.24 m.
