With the inauguration of the new 6,800m² production area on 12th September 2013, GKN Driveline continues to expand its facilities in Poland.
The new production area will mainly produce CVJ sideshafts and propshafts and includes new laboratories, offices and a logistic area.
The expansion is part of the GKN Driveline development strategy plan for Central and Eastern Europe. It reflects increasing sales and a growing product portfolio, as well as continuing progress in production technology. The investment of 100 million PLN (£ 19,975,400; € 23,333,500) will create 100 additional jobs within the next five years, with 672 people being employed at the facility at present. Annual production volumes are set to increase to 6.5 million units in 2018 from the current 5.3 million.
The business expansion was highly supported by the Polish Government by a national corporate tax relief programme.
An inauguration ceremony took place with Dr Helmuth Rohregger - Managing Director Europe, GKN Driveline; Ms Sarah Tiffin - Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General, British Embassy and Ms Ilona Antoniszyn-Klik - Deputy Minister of Economy.
Helmuth Rohregger commented: “This expansion allows us to fully support our customers in Europe. We are proud to continue to grow by leveraging GKN Driveline leading technology and global footprint."
