gmmpIn October this year, General Motors Manufacturing Poland (GMMP)’s Gliwice plant will launch production of Opel Astra IV GTC.

As we have learned, the new Astra is not the only new version to be launched by the Gliwice plant. In August 2012, another version of Astra IV is to roll off the assembly lines in Gliwice. The new design will be a notchback version, i.e. a four-door saloon car that will replace Astra III saloon.

Initially, this new version was to be put into production in April 2012, but the launch date has been changed due to redesigning work on all the versions of Astra IV.

AutomotiveSuppliers.pl has learned from unconfirmed sources that the Gliwice plant may produce more than 40 thousand Astra IV saloon units annually.

GMMP’s Gliwice plant has been in operation since 1997 and employs approx. 3 thousand people.
