Nexteer Automotive decided to build its new EPS (Electric Power Steering) production facility in Tychy. Building the new plant will be a part of a 80 mln Euro investment, connected with the development of the EPS technology which is more and more popular among global car manufacturers.
Until 2020 Nexteer will invest over 80 million Euro in the new facility, warehouse spaces and new machines. According to Nexteer representatives, the company is planning to start construction works in the second half of this year and finalize it at the turn of 2015/2016. The new facility will be placed next to the currently existing plant in Tychy, which was built in 1997.
The new investment is a part of the Electric Power Steering technology development project, concerning Single Pinion EPS and Column EPS. Nexteer EPS systems are implemented in the models of such car manufacturers like BMW, Citroen, Fiat, Peugeot or Opel.
With the production volume of about 1,5 million EPS systems annually and over 1150 employees, Gliwice and Tychy are currently one of the biggest Nexteer plants in terms of manufacturing and employment among all 20 Nexteer manufacturing facilities. Since several months Polish plants are manufacturing i.a. EPS systems for the first fully electric BMW model - i3.

It’s also very important for us that new investments will not only keep the current employment rate but also create new positions on which we’ll inform in an appropriate time.
