On 14 September 2012, in Chmielów, a new auto glass manufacturing facility was officially opened by Pilkington Automotive Poland, which is part of the Japanese NSG Group.
The new factory has already launched production of windscreen glass for vehicles made by General Motors, Ford, Volkswagen, Fiat, including glass for lorries.
The Chmielów factory is Pilkington Automotive Poland’s second manufacturing facility (the first one is located is Sandomierz).
Windscreen glass for lorries is a new line of products to be made in Poland. The new factory will be manufacturing windscreen glass for lorries made by MAN, DSF, Mercedes and Volvo. The Chmielów factory’s target production is 2 million windscreens and approx. 5 million tempered side and rear panels for cars and lorries. Seventy percent of all the products will be supplied to foreign markets.
The new plan, which covers an area of 30 thousand sq m, has two innovative lines for making laminated panels using the APBL LEL and BOX TF technologies. By the end of 2014, two other lines will have been put into operation: a 2DFB-technology glass tempering line and a windscreen encapsulation line.
