According to the daily Handelsbatt, Opel’s plant in Gliwice is set to begin gearing up to launch the production of not only a 3-door version of Astra IV.
The German daily, citing sources at Opel’s head office, wrote that General Motors Manufacturing Poland (GMMP)’s Gliwice plant is almost certain to sign a contract to make Astra IV in a convertible version. The Gliwice plant is reported to have won the contract in an intragroup competition against Opel’s plant in Bochum, Germany. The convertible version will be put on the market in 2013.
The car will be manufactured in co-operation with Magna. The Canadian-Austrian group operates a Tychy based manufacturing plant that supplies roof systems for, among others, Fiat Auto Poland’s factory.
