On 3 January 2012, the Polish Council of Ministers resolved to provide financial support for three projects. One of them is a project by Pittsburgh Glass Works.
The government will support the construction of the company’s manufacturing facility in the town of Środa Śląska. The new plant will produce high-quality car glass. Pittsburgh Glass Works has undertaken to invest PLN 204,494,640 in the project and to keep the facility working for 5 years. The project will create 151 jobs, including 13 for people with college or university degrees, which the company has to keep for 5 years. The government support will be used to pay the costs of the project.
The Polish government plans to spend PLN 3,578,656 in subsidies for projects in 2012-2013. In 2012, funding for the project will come from a special reserve allocated to the Polish Minister of the Economy.
Pittsburgh Glass Works will receive state aid in the form exemption from corporate tax on its income generated within the Legnica Special Economic Zone. The planned value of the exemption is PLN 14.7 million. If the company fulfills all its investment commitments, the total permitted amount of state aid will be PLN 81.7 million.
