tmmp Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland (TMMP) is planning to switch to a two-shift production system starting from May 2012. It will be implemented at the manufacturing facilities now working on a three-shift basis.

The purpose of the change is to ensure that production of gearboxes and engines reflects the company’s market order levels.

As a result of the change, around 200 temporary workers will be laid off and the company’s regular employees will be assigned other duties within the company.

“Adapting to the needs of the European market is a necessity for us,” said Carl Klemm, president of TMMP.

TMMP in Wałbrzych is a manufacturer of 6-speed manual gearboxes for the following Toyota models: Auris, Corolla, Verso I Avensis, as well as 5-speed gearboxes and 1-litre engines for Toyota Yaris and Toyota Aygo (including a semi-automatic MMT version for Aygo’s). The company’s 2011 production was 314,271 engines and 507,205 gearboxes. The factory employs around 1,700 people permanently.
