fiat_powertrain At the end of December 2011, the merger of two Fiat Powertrain companies based in the city of Bielsko-Biała, namely Fiat Powertrain Polska (FPP) and Fiat Powertrain Technologies Poland (FPTP), was closed.

According to the merger plan unveiled early in the second half of last year, the acquiring company was FPTP.

Fiat Powertrain Polska (called Fiat-GM Powertrain Polska until early 2010) was established in 2000 on the foundations of Fiat Auto Poland’s plant. In 2003, the company launched production of its Multijet 1.3l diesel engine, which won the Engine of the Year 2005 award in the 1-1.4 litre category of the International Engine of the Year competition two years later.

Since June 2010, Fiat Powertrain Technologies Poland has been manufacturing TwinAir 0.9l, petrol engines. This engine was named Engine of the Year 2011 of all the categories in the International Engine of the Year competition. The TwinAir engine made by Fiat Powertrain Poland was also named Best New Engine 2011 and Best Green Engine 2011.

In 2011, 568 thousand diesel engines and 45 thousand petrol engines were made at the factories in Bielsko-Biała. Fiat Powertrain Technologies Poland employs 1,148 people.
