On 19 of April 2012 a new Pittsburgh Glass Works Poland plant manufacturing automotive glass was officially inaugurated in Komorniki near Środa Śląska (south-western Poland). The new factory will hire about 200 people. The plant occupies an area of 20 thousand square meters, being the largest in Legnica Special Economic Zone. PGW is to manufacture windscreens for Mercedes-Benz plants in Germany and Hungary - 1.2 million per year. Next to an innovative production line the investor intends to establish the R&D section.

Pittsburgh Glass Works Poland is a first company which decided to invest in this subzone of Legnica SEZ, however soon the next companies cooperating with PGW will start their activity in Środa Śląska.
